Back Seat Leaders

Leadership, easier said than done. Being a leader takes initiative. Yet there is constant clatter nearby anyone with the gal to pursue such hardships. This clatter contains but is not limited to; "I can do better with much greater ambitions, but I don't want to take on the role because I have better shit to do" or "The current leader is failing very badly because they decided on A and B. They should have chosen C, I would've been a better leader because I would have chosen C. It's 100% obvious."

The first quote is a quote I've heard while working many different jobs over the span of 5 years. Why must these delusions sprout fruitfully when all evidence points towards denial. If you don't have the willpower to take on a task then you don't and never will have the ambitions to see this so called greatness become a reality. Instead of putting your so called "greatness" into effect you do the exact opposite. Blindly mouthing off can negatively affect others in your league to discredit the one leading the group. Then in effect the leader will probably lose self confidence causing the group to loose a leader.

Great you say? Glad they're gone you say?

Why must I be surrounded by delirious, arrogant, and ignorant fools!?

Good luck finding a leader. Since it's clear you have no interest in showing "ambition" to lead yourself, your group then becomes no different than an army of ants scattered by a sudden impact. Long story short, unless you truly believe you deserve and would endure the responsibility, stfu.

Decisions. Some important, some reflective, others self defining. The number one function of any leader no matter the destination, obligations, or industry, is the function of decisions. Someone who is running a good ship has a crew who can reliable ask away any question relating to the ship. The responses don't have to be great they just have to be consistent, relevant, and of course confident. If a captain stares at a map for 3 days just to decide between turning left then circling or right then circling, then the ship will end up having problems with the team and countless other variables. Anyone leading anything from managing a warehouse to running a corporate business will make undesirable decisions with sometimes very little foresight. While yes they should be critiqued, because of the responsibility they have in place. Simply submitting the idea their establishment should become void because they chose A instead of C is a bit over the top. If you lack this empathy then maybe the expressed words are little disingenuous. So once again, stfu.

With all this being specified leaders being critiqued is very important in smoothing the process. Keeping tabs is necessary in making sure a group is not suffering a slow yet silent death. Every job or task need an evaluation. Just don't let the evaluation be the quick trigger.

An Annoying Costumer

Yesterday around four or five pm I finished my coffee and headed towards the local Carls Jr. I walked in and noticed a semi-long line and thought, " I'll just wait, no problem". Of course, the wait did lead to my mind wondering off, staring at the menu, workers that seemed to hate their job, and ended with me reading cardboard advertisements. While reading the Knots Scary farm ad I saw a rectangular doted shape with text that read, "Place coupons here". From what is written on the cardboard I thought to myself, I guess the coupons are all out since there are none to display.

"Hi may I help you?", asked the manager on the register. I then walked up to him and loudly said, "Place coupon here!" He stared at me confused, I backed away recollecting my thoughts, looked up, and realized nobody was there. "I must of scared him off or maybe he thinks I told him to get me a coupon", I whispered to my self. Less than a second later he comes back, "You ready to order now?". Swiftly, in order to finish without anymore hesitation or screwup I ordered a Big Burger and a cup of water. He types it into the computer. "No cheese!", I quickly added. He slowly lifts his head to eye contact, "you want cheese on it?".  At that moment the feeling of being awkward in this encounter heightened. I was stupid, drugged up, dependent, naive, and possible mentally ill to the manager. "Well?", he asked growing impatient. "No, no cheese please", I answered. I gave him the dollar and forty cents, the exact price. He gave me a number and told me in a very suspicious way, "your number is 56, ok, don't forget it so that I can give you your food", "ok, don't worry I won't forget" I answered with much unachieved confidence.

$1.40

I stepped back to heal the wounds of my scarred self-esteem with a some nice cold water. I watched as family after family collected their edible rewards and their kids observing their parent's social interactions. "54? 55? 56? 56? 56?", the numbers go by and I just stand waiting for my turn to enjoy my meal. "56? 56? 57?", they continued till they reached my lucky number 57, the number I earned, the number I remembered, the number I will be known for, "I'm number 57!", I said with a huge and pleasant smile. "No you're 56!", the manager says in an impatient voice.

The worst part of the story was that I was 100% sober. :(
