Observing Religious pedestrians

Religion is a concept I have a hard time understanding. Why do some blindly follow, how does memorizing empty facts be considered "productive", or why do people need to be told they have a mission setup by some imaginary individual? The other day I noticed a twenty something kid reading a religious pamphlet handed out at the local bus stop while going to his job. I sat quietly hoping no intrusion would come my way. It was then apparent with the expression on his face, he stumbled upon a revaluation. Could it be he finally realized the words within the print was potent with logical falacies? No. He read the writing more like an instructions manual, when he should've been reading the words with a critical thought. He looked over to a helpless individual and mentioned the wise words from an icon he probably understands little about. He parroted the words he just learned and spoke it lawfully. I continued sitting with little care to make him realize the imperfections of his logic because on thing Ive learned is, you can't teach a freewill idea to those unwilling to think for themselves.
